The Vibe Coding Competition, the first ever of its kind, brings the energy and creativity of hackathons into a high-stakes competition with $10K awarded to the winning team.

Details

Inspired by the format of "Chopped," teams of 1-3 members will be challenged to build an original coding project from scratch within 18 hours. The competition is designed to challenge participants, encouraging innovation, execution, and collaboration under pressure.

Contest Format

  • Challenge Creation: Prior to the event, a panel of experts will define the coding challenge or themes. Participants will receive challenge details at kickoff.
  • Judging Panel: A diverse group of experienced developers, founders, and product designers will assess entries based on the criteria outlined.
  • Live Demonstration & Winner Selection: Teams will present their projects in a high-energy, demo-style showdown, followed by winner announcements.

Rules & Criteria

  • Each team consists of 1-3 participants.
  • Up to 12 teams will be chosen to compete (total of 36 people)
  • All participants must be in person in Indianapolis to compete
  • ~18 hours to complete and deploy the project.
  • All code must be written from scratch during the competition.
  • Final projects must be publicly accessible and deployed on a live environment or device (for mobile apps).
  • Participants may leverage AI tools but must disclose their usage.
  • While AI-assisted development is permitted, drag-and-drop or low-code/no-code solutions are prohibited..
  • Judging Criteria (6 Judges + 1 Ringmaster):
    • Innovation & Creativity – How original and unique is the project?
    • Functionality – Does it work as intended?
    • Code Quality – Clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
    • Execution – How polished and deployable is the final product?
    • Presentation – How well does the team articulate their work?
